You can also get a variable DC power supply for under $50 USD. Most
embedded developers have several of these among a good scope and
other hardware on their bench. Search also for "Benchtop power supply".

This variable power supply will allow you to adjust the DC power supply
with fine granularity up and down at any voltage. When you review the board requirements, make sure your variable DC benchtop power supply
can supply the require amount of current for the board.

Variable DC power supplies are mandatory, when you "bring up" new
boards. Small quantity manufactured boards often need to be
treated like "first run" boards, due to the fact they are manufactured
in small quantity. I always put new dev boards on a variable DC
power supply during the initial "burn-in" life of the board to watch
carefully for power consumption anomalies as various subsystems of the board initiate power draw. Some chips/systems use different voltages from the main power supply on the board (external wall wart transformer).....

Small production run boards often have some passive component substitutions on the power circuitry, that has not been property tested....sometimes. You may just have a flaky power supply from the
vendor.... Put a DC voltage meter on the output, unloaded first then
as the board loads (draws current) from the power supply. The power
supply you are using may be "drawing down" too low on voltage, because
it cannot supply the current draw (amperage) at the given voltage level.
Or the supervisor circuit monitoring the voltage level, could be faulty.
Hard to say without further testing.

    Hi Tom,
    I am finding below issues while booting the Versatile Express board.
    The board boots and u-boot prompt comes but after that it gets powered
    down because of exceeding power limit (seems to be some PMIC issue).
    Please find the detailed log below:
