Okay, I thought I'd come out of the woodwork, and fess up. I've been
running Linux since 1992 and remember version numbers before
0.99. I've seen an operating system that has become much more stable,
and has become my main platform.

Recently however, I've been exposed to programs like SoundForge,
CakeWalk, Cubase, CoolEdit, and have come to really like them. I don't
have the time to try and replicate those beautiful programs in the
Linux environment, and in some cases, I cannot. Lack of Full Duplex
sound drivers, and stable MIDI support are among the things on my list
that keep me from doing Music under Linux.

The GIMP is really coming along, and will probably replace my need for
Photoshop very soon. As soon as Wacom drivers are in the release
versions (instead of in beta development) I'll be quite happy.

Now someone needs to spend some time to engineer a high quality sound
manipulation program! I have no idea about the algorithms. Anyone out
there do this stuff? I'd help with programming...

Hello to all the artists out there!
