I just recently purchased my first-ever midi controller, a very cheap
keyboard by Quickshot. Now I'm trying to actually do something *useful*
with it, so I ask...
Is anyone on this list composing MIDI music with Linux?
If so, could you tell me what sequencer you use? I've tried Rosegarden
and couldn't get a peep out of it. (I know the hardware is working:
playmidi works fine, both with FM and wavetable output; and RTSynth
tracks my keyboard flawlessly.) I'm about to see if Cantor is useable
yet. Haven't checked out Jazz++ but I'm trying to stick to free software
anyway...
One interesting note: I just installed the latest WINE binary, and found
that Cakewalk Home Studio 3.0 (pretty old, but it came with the
keyboard) runs fairly well... unfortunately, not quite well enough to
actually work with. Playback works, but it sounds seriously stoned!
