This is a "wouldn't it be neat if" I've been thinking about for a
while, but wouldn't know how to begin to persue it myself ... even if I
did have the time.
I know that it is possible to create an audio CD which plays in
existing players, but has other digital data on it as well. I say this
because I once received a software demo disk which had music on it ...
I never did install the demo because it didn't run under linux, but
there must've been some extra data there.
If the free software / free music community can devise a format, we
could have track information, related graphics, etc. on our free music
CDs. Imagine a player that told you the track *name* being played,
instead of just the number, because it is physically on the disk.
The possibilites are limitless. But the coolest part is if we could
all agree on this nice free thing before someone tries to sell it to
us!
