Hi Michael, pleased to meet you!

So true. Alas, it's the same old story. "Oh, come on, my friend would
never do THAT!" (-; Thus, the need to make Ram's Free Music Philosophy
clear to my guests before they step up to mic. At this point it's a
minor tiff between old friends, but I can see how it could easily become
a major one.

I'd be happy to document my techie-efforts for The Cause.

To start - Here's my home system -

Abit BP6 w/2-466mhz Celerons in dark chocolate
80 gigs of IDE disk (2x10, 2x30 WD's)
Plextor 12x SCSI cdrom burner
Creative Sound Blaster Live! Platinum w/Live Drive

I'm running RedHat 7/Gnome 1.2 with kernel 2.4.1-ac19. I record raw
tracks on a Roland VS880, mixdown via the S/PDIF and the SoundBlaster
using Broadcast 2000, where I also do editing and final mastering before
using the venerable cdrdao to burn my disks at 12x on the Plextor. I'm a
big fan of cdparanoia as a ripper and use XMMS for routine playback
duties.

Every time I hit a snag, someone was out there to give me a pointer in
the right direction. I hope I can help.

I second Ram's endorsement of the Ambrosia on Rockville Pike - it's feta
heaven. (-8
