Carol
Thanks for distributing this and sorry for what happened to you.

The 4’ passing rule became law when it was signed by the governor late last
year. Lincoln’s BPAC has begun discussions with the police about how best
to inform the public (e.g., MassDOT has developed a standard sign) and
enforce the new law.

In the meantime, getting the license plate of the perpetrator perhaps by
taking a cell phone photo of the car and its license plate and passing it
on to the police may be the best that can be done. I realize that none of
us are prepared when this happens so the suggestion may not be much help.
More can and should be done to protect vulnerable road users.

BPAC’s hope is that the town can implement effective measures this year.

Take care,

Bob Wolf
BPAC co-chair
