| Savers may be for profit but they support the Epilepsy Foundation. Epilepsy is a disease that does not have a much philanthropic support as other diseases, such as breast cancer. People can die from seizures. Also, I have friends in Framingham who go to Savers all the time. It allows them to dress well and find useful household goods at reasonable prices. Even if it is for profit, it provides a “useful product” to a lot of people, some of whom cannot afford full retail prices. I have both donated there and shopped there, particularly for items that one needs only briefly, like snow boots for kids that will be outgrown in one season. Savers does a great job at handling and merchandising their inventory. It also employs people. Not all operations that handle donations are as well run. |
