Yes, it is extremely difficult. I’m trying to reduce plastic without much success. I do have a lot of silicon Lilypads that I use on my Plates, bowls, and casseroles instead of plastic wrap. You can get meat from Crosby’s in Concord that is wrapped in butcher paper. And of course you can get vegetables from your own garden and other farm stands. Butter, margarine, or any kind of milk product or milk substitute are hard to find in anything but plasticized cardboard or plastic bottles.
Maybe you could share approaches that you have found useful.
