I've returned to Mason Jars for storage. Our meat share (Chestnut Farms CSA) unfortunately comes in vacuum plastic bags, but at least it eliminates the styrofoam and plastic trays as well as the gel pads that some chicken manufacturers use between the meat and styrofoam. I also buy a grain share ( https://localgrain.org/product/heritage-grain-share/?mc_cid=654069db56&mc_eid=8c02646550) that completely eliminated all plastic associated with grains and beans, as you customize your share in December and pick up in bulk in February. That's where the Mason Jars come in handy. The 2-lid system allows you to store long term using a vacuum made for the jars. I also include a food grade desiccant pack. All of these are reusable. While you would never reuse the gasket part of the lid in canning, as long as it can still seal, it can be used to store grains, floors, and beans by vacuum seal.
For our farm share, I reuse any plastic bags that are clean for pickup (when a bag is needed), and then they usually get a third use in our kitchen compost bin. I store the food headed to the compost shed in the bags until we get to the transfer station, and then they are transferred to a paper bag and the plastic bag finally goes into the trash.
