OK, so much for that plan. I guess the next idea would be to either 
rewind the movie to its beginning or make it jump to the end before 
leaving the frame.

I knew that too. ;)

That Director keeps such stuff stored for a while sort of helps 
explain what happened to me with Dir7 on WinNT -- when I had DV files 
(actually an AVI) playing as a MIAW, if the window closed while the 
DV was playing I got a crash every time. Pausing or stopping playback 
*before* closing the window prevented it. I guess it might be a 
related issue we're seeing here with memory in general.

I wonder if it might not hurt to wishlist a keyword that does for DV 
what clearCache does for net stuff or unloadMember does for cast 
files.
