Yeah, it's a pain, innit? That's why I was suggesting kicking up
dialogs. There's just so much you should ask of a program. At some
point or another the user has to start accepting responsibility for
his system and the changes he's made to it. Trying to account for
every possible boneheaded thing that can be done to a computer is an
exercise in futility...
