I reported this bug when I was testing Director 8. Have you by any chance got the Script for instantiating the MUI in an external cast (or a cast other than the Internal cast)? I seem to recall that this error occurs if the script is in an external cast. I worked around the problem by copying the script to the internal cast of every movie of my project.
