Yes, I have tried this, and I believe it does work.  However, this is 
a large program with many Flash members on many different screens, 
and I really don't want to have to find every one in the score and 
add a silly behavior to set the static property.

In playing around with this a little, I think that I can turn off 
certain properties in the Property Inspector - things like 
Interaction Properties such as ButtonsEnabled and ActionsEnabled.  It 
looks like that does it.  Direct to Stage is off.
