If you have one large map with every little object on it, when it's zoomed out to see a lot of the map, there will be so many little objects visible that it will bog down the playback, possibly worse than an image would (you'd have to do some tests to see which is worse). <snip>
Just a thought..the problems of speed can be minimized if you go down the multiple movieclips route....
