Dir10 even lets you publish with a splash screen image now so users get the sense that *something* is happening during app load.
All recent versions of Director let you use a splash image: on Windows, if your projector is 'start.exe', place 'start.bmp' next to the projector, on Mac, if your projector is 'start', place 'start.pct' (or maybe 'start.pic', I forget which) next to your projector.
