The yet-to-be-released QuickTime 5 will support a cubic QTVR.  The
software used to make IPIX spheres will allow an export to the cubic
QTVR format.  Thus, IPIX can be seamlessly brought into Director via the
next version of QuickTime.

Of course this is all vaporware at this time.  A further caveat is that
working with IPIX will not be cheap.
