MIAW kills background sounds

just making sure I'm not doing something boneheaded, here.

Sound(5).play(member("whatever")) starts the sound, but
 
  pMIAW = window pMovie
  pMIAW.visible = FALSE

the pMIAW.visible command kills my sound looping in the background.

One option around this is to open the MIAW and hide it behind the stage til needed, any other options?
