Since nobody else has mentioned it, I will point out that CA has our EDBC product available on Linux/390. It gives you a very robust way to access DB2, IMS, CICS, VSAM and other types of OS/390 or z/OS data from applications running under Linux/390, as well as other environments.

Since I got your reply, I did read several IBM Redbooks/Presentations on IMS Connectivity. I did read the following limitation(s) in one of the IBM's Redbook: ODBA programs must execute on the same MVS image (LPAR) as the IMS system(s). Since GSAM databases are allocated by the dependent region (local), not by IMS subsystem, GSAM databases are not allowed for ODBA. We have DB2 on one machine and IMS on other machine. Can we still use ODBA? Thanks in advance, Samy Rengasamy. -----Original Message----- From: "Dougie G Lawson" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Tue, 11 Dec 2001 11:02:08 +0000 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: How to access IMS Database from Linux/390 Samy, A few ways are open to you. 1. Java CCF EJB programming through IMS Connect (on OS/390) to the IMS message queue. 2. DB2 connect to DB2 for OS/390, DB2 stored proc runs ODBA to access IMS database. 3. CICS Transaction Gateway, runs CICS/DBCTL txn on OS/390. 4. MQSeries, OTMA to IMS message queue (needs MQSeries client on Linux, MQSeries server on OS/390). 5. RPC/DCE support through AS/IMS running on OS/390. 6. Raw socket code that connects to IMS Connect to the IMS message queue. http://ibm.com/ims Regards, Dougie Lawson -- ITS Technical Support Enterprise/ASSIST IMS, DB2 & Linux IMS - The World depends on it.
