In theory you can also use the IP options for source routing , providing you
have machines set to allow them. For internal custom hacks that can be
quite doable but not as a general solution

[A lot of routers/firewalls drop source routed to broadcast frames - they
 are known in the internet world as "letterbombs" for good reason]
