I suspect CDE has a little to do with Red Hat's stance on Open Source software.


As I recall, some years ago (before KDE and GNOME) RH used to sell CDE for Linux.

I saw a security announcement in which RH said there was a security problem,
they could not fix it (no source), don't use it and existing clients using it
would get a rebate against their next purchase from RH.
