I think, you should define DNS server on your slow system.

I have RedHat 7.2 linux under VM4.3. the first instance connect fine with
no problem but the instances after that gives problems when connecting.
When SSHing to this linux instances the request for the user name comes
back quickly and the request for the password takes long to come back. The
tcpip.
The foolowing is "ifconfig -a" output from both of my systems:
