SLES8 and 31-bit support

Does anyone know if SuSE SLES8 supports 31-bit processors? I tried to boot the starter 
system on our 31-bit processor and it went into a program interrupt loop. When I 
traced what was happening it seems to have taken an operation exception on a LARL 
instruction.
