> Is there software available for such a process? If you can get it as PS, PDF is easy.
a2ps does a nice job on text to PS conversion, and ps2pdf does the PDF conversion. > > I'm thinking about routing printouts to Linux and have a Regina > process > pick it up, do the PDF conversion and send it along its way. Doable? See Adam and I's article in Technical Support on Linux printing for an example of how to do exactly this. I think it was the Feb 2002 article where we talked about using a Linux guest as a PS/PDF rendering engine for RSCS. > Second tangent, is there software that can use PDF files and drive an > IP attached printer? And no, I don't mean something that has a gui > screen front end, but something that can be executed within Regina. Sure. LPR doesn't care what it's sending; it just transmits it to the printer. As long as the printer understands LPR (which is usually what the printer mfgs mean by "TCPIP printing"), then Linux is perfectly happy to talk to it.
