Leland, I'm not looking for read-write access, and your comment about chmod implies that you might go that route. I don't think that will ever be safe.
I don't want this functionality to be wide open, for security reasons. (I won't implement the "mainframe file system (mffs)" that came out for Linux/390 for just that reason.)
