The first time I edited /etc/inittab to add this, I reversed two letters

presume I'm spelling it correctly now. :-)
The init 6 takes another part of the inittab.
Sorry, that was unclear, wasn't it? The "init 6" was just to force a
re-read of the inittab. (I appreciate the tips on other ways to do this!)
Rich Smrcina's observation that his first test failed but his second
test failed wasn't repeated here; the second test didn't even trigger a
LOGOFF at the of the "within" period on the SIGNAL SHUTDOWN command in
VM. (Not that I had understood that the first time, but I took it as
some kind of good sign! :-) )
The Linux guest's console is SCIF'ed to another userid; it doesn't show
any activity when the SIGNAL SHUTDOWN is issued except for the message
from CP that the interval has expired.. :-(
It looks like we're not yet in the clear on this one.... Oh, well,
that's a nice thing about VM, it's easy to generate another guest just
for this kind of testing. :-)
Yours now it looks like this?
ca::ctrlaltdel:/sbin/shutdown -r -t 4 now
I would have thought I had -h in, but this seems to work...
"-r" instead of "-h"? Odd. :-) Otherwise, yes, that's my line, for the
moment. I'll probably add a message to be sent to all users, mostly for
debugging purposes.
