I thought of two reasons this might happen. The first, which I
discounted, was that the Linux LPAR was setting PRIROUTER on the OSA-E
ports and your VIPA traffic was actually getting to z/OS via Linux. I
discounted this because you don't need to set PRIROUTER on z/OS anymore
(with OSA-E), because the VIPA address is one of the addresses that is
registered in the OSA when the OSA-E interface is activated.

The second thought: maybe your Linux systems are advertising (via dynamic
routing) the route to your VIPA. I see in another message that you're
having trouble with Zebra starting, so it looks like you're using some
kind of dynamic routing... Verify how the rest of the network learns
about the path to the addresses in your LPARs. If you're running OMPROUTE
(or OROUTED) in z/OS make sure it's configured correctly -- perhaps Zebra
on your Linux system is advertising the z/OS routes for you; these routes
would disappear when the Linux system's network connection is removed.

Hope this helps...

Cheers,
Vic Cross
