Which means that the binary package should show up on the SUSE FTP server
before too long. The SRPM is there now, so it would make more sense to
download that and use rpmbuild to create the package, rather than start from
the project homepage.

It's there, but only on the DVD version:

$ find SuSE-9.2-RC4/ -name "x3270*"
SuSE-9.2-RC4/CD1/suse/i586/x3270-3.2.20-286.i586.rpm
SuSE-9.2-RC4/CD1/suse/x86_64/x3270-3.2.20-286.x86_64.rpm
SuSE-9.2-RC4/CD2/suse/src/x3270-3.2.20-286.src.rpm
$

However, it is not part of the CD set (not enough space)

Same here:

$ find SuSE-9.1-DVD-i386-RC2/ -name "x3270*"
SuSE-9.1-DVD-i386-RC2/CD1/suse/i586/x3270-3.2.20-278.i586.rpm
SuSE-9.1-DVD-i386-RC2/CD2/suse/src/x3270-3.2.20-278.src.rpm
$

Well, you could also compile it from source, the project's
home page is at http://x3270.bgp.nu
