Not that I've completely read the following manuals yet, but based on
the table of contents, there isn't a section for what I'm interested
in.

Samba-3 by Example
The Official Samba-3 HOWTO and Reference Guide

What I'm interested in is being able to diag a problem based on error
messages.

So, how...where do I go to be able to look up the following error
messages without having to read the source code?

May 4 10:29:45 linux26 nmbd[4160]: domain_master_node_status_fail:

May 4 10:29:45 linux26 nmbd[4160]: Doing a node status request to
the domain
master browser

May 4 10:29:45 linux26 nmbd[4160]: for workgroup WORKGROUP at IP
192.168.99.2
22 failed.

May 4 10:29:45 linux26 nmbd[4160]: Cannot sync browser lists.

May 4 10:35:35 linux26 nmbd[4160]: [2005/05/04 10:35:35, 0]
nmbd/nmbd_packets.c
:process_browse_packet(1050)

The situation is that Linux22 (192.168.99.222) is a Samba 3.0 server.
It is the only one that is really running properly. That is, it is
listed in the Windows Workgroups under Computers Near Me (W2K).

Linux26 (192.168.99.226) is another Samba 3.0 server. Everything works
there except that it is not listed under Workgroups in Computers Near
Me.

It looks like it is trying to join or notify Linux22 and fails, which I
suspect is the reason why it isn't listed as part of the Workgroup. How
it knows to look for Linux22? I don't know. Linux26 hasn't a clue
about any other Linux machine running.

So, instead of just asking for help on this, I would rather how to dig
up this info myself. Perhaps there is a better manual available.
Perhaps there is a certain section of one of the above manuals that I
need to more fully read and understand. Perhaps it is just black magic,
like the good old days of mainframe operating systems <G>.
Ahhh...lasers and purple smoke....gotta love it.

Thanks
