Not yet. That announcement is for the gadget that manages IODFs, not for
z/OS itself. There's a lot of work that will be necessary to teach z/OS
how to play nice in the FCP world -- it's got to understand FBA devices
first. It'll be a good long while before IBM can make that happen.

Either will work, however I tend to prefer hipersockets for this type of
application in that it takes very good advantage of the ability to use
64K MTU sizes efficiently -- file transfers tend to be bulk transfer
operations which map better to the hipersocket model. The answer on
whether OSA or hipersocket really is a "it depends" question -- both
have advantages.
