The overriding problem is that cpint is not in the upstream kernel and
cannot be depended upon to be present.

I also recognize that there is a problem with folks getting things
included in the upstream kernel.  Catch-22.  We're working to get the
problem solved, as we development rats dislike re-inventing wheels as much
as you dislike us doing so.
