David, You should submit this to the opensolaris-discuss list so that it can become an approved project and listed on the communities portal. I believe that should help drive up interest and participation.

Oh, we're quite serious...8-) I guess it is time for a quick update since the last round of discussion -- thanks to the folks who deferred to letting me get organized first. SNA is currently engaged in producing a port of OpenSolaris for zSeries. The port is specifically designed to run as a VM guest and to take advantage of CP functions and services wherever possible. The port currently initializes the kernel, does some device detection, and dies horribly in initializing the virtual memory manager. Both IBM and Sun have expressed an interest in the work, and have committed some hardware assistance, but the majority of the development is still in our spare time. If this is something that would be useful to your shop, contact me offline. If you would like to contribute money or manpower, also contact me offline. Either contribution would dramatically speed up the delivery of this project. -- db ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For LINUX-390 subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: INFO LINUX-390 or visit http://www.marist.edu/htbin/wlvindex?LINUX-390 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For LINUX-390 subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: INFO LINUX-390 or visit http://www.marist.edu/htbin/wlvindex?LINUX-390
