Since the VSWITCH only registers the IP address the guest tells it to use,
at that point you'd be able to do a plain "ifconfig" command to see your IP
address.  If he's looking for ways to set the IP address and hostname, not
recover it, there are various ways to do that.  One that I like is having
every guest linked to one particular CMS minidisk that has a config file for
every system that contains the "identity" of that system.  Nice, centralized
place to keep all your guest configs (good for DRA), and all you need is the
cmsfs package.

TCPMAINT or MAINT CP QUERY VSWITCH DETAILS
I love the command, it includes the names of all vm's using a vswitch and
the ip info.
