I am not sure either. All I know is I'd like to see everything that happens on our zVM, it's TCPIP(with OSAs), the zVM (Vswitch stack with it's OSAs), plus the 10 to 20 zLinux guests(their OP sys + TCP. Everything includes vswitch messages, memory issues, anything that goes to a console. Port all these logs separately into a common place like a z/OS GDG dataset for each of these systems/stacks.
Combining the Operating system and TCP logs into one GDG is okay per zVM and zLinux "McKown, John" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent by: "Linux on 390 Port" <LINUX-390@VM.MARIST.EDU> 09/20/2007 10:10 AM Please respond to "Linux on 390 Port" <LINUX-390@VM.MARIST.EDU> To LINUX-390@VM.MARIST.EDU cc Subject Re: Copying zVM and zLinux Logs to MVS GDG dataset What sort of "log" does z/Linux put to the z/VM "console"? Wouldn't using SNMP or SYSLOGD to the z/OS system be "better"? Please note that I don't run z/Linux anymore. I just stay around here for learning purposes in the vain hope that we may use Linux on z later.
