And stops. Anybody was able to boot sles10 on Hercules?
It's a known hercules problem.
It's fixed in development and will be fixed in next release. You can
either pick the development version, compile it and use it, or use one
of the various snapshots floating around.
PS : It's not a SLES 10 problem. The problem started with some version
of the stock 2.6 kernel when they decided to use DIAG 308 - which was
improperly implemented in hercules (implemented enough to make the
kernel think it had DIAG 308, not implemented enough to actually be
usable). The cio: xxx message is not a real issue (it just means some
dynamic I/O reconfiguration won't be available). So any new enough
kernel based system will also fail.
