Thanks for the info Alan, how do I call the Samba client program from z/OS USS ? I'd ideally like to creat a mount point. btw .. the zLinux module /sbin/mount.nfs (67K) and /sbin/mount.cifs (30K) really are not that big so porting them to z/OS you would think shouldnt be a huge task.

Long answer: you confused a couple of things. There is a client program with Samba that will do FTP like functions. The mount command requires smbfs, which has not been ported to z/OS.
