Rob,

 A heads up: The latest RHEL4 U6 tcpdump, tcpdump-3.8.2-12.el4_6.1, checks
if the qeth device is layer 3, and if so, Sets the link-type RAW (Raw IP).
Some programs, eg., ethereal, can read this capture without the wrapper to
fake the headers.

More that tcpdump expects ethernet and when your vswitch is set to IP
it does not have that. There's a wrapper for tcpdump to fake the
headers.
