Rob, A heads up: The latest RHEL4 U6 tcpdump, tcpdump-3.8.2-12.el4_6.1, checks if the qeth device is layer 3, and if so, Sets the link-type RAW (Raw IP). Some programs, eg., ethereal, can read this capture without the wrapper to fake the headers. Thank you for your help, ________________________ Mike O'Reilly IBM Linux Change Team : 15350 S.W. I'm pretty sure it's a system specific problem due to tcpdump not showing any broadcast traffic. More that tcpdump expects ethernet and when your vswitch is set to IP it does not have that. There's a wrapper for tcpdump to fake the headers. -Rob ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For LINUX-390 subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: INFO LINUX-390 or visit http://www.marist.edu/htbin/wlvindex?LINUX-390 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For LINUX-390 subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: INFO LINUX-390 or visit http://www.marist.edu/htbin/wlvindex?LINUX-390
