Have you booted Linux without a working resolver? It's extremely slow,
you will notice (especially if using sendmail). OTOH, adding this bogus
information to /etc/hosts will make it boot nice and quickly, just like
there's nothing wrong.

If it's broken, I want to know. I do not want the problem hidden like this.
