We use TSM, so don't have that issue. Having said that, I stay away from
cyl 0 as a matter of practice (using full pack mod-9 minidisks).

After the cloning process is done, I use a rexx script that calls ickdsf
to label the devices "VMxxxx" where xxxx = device number. Sorry I should
have mentioned that in my original post.

Pat,

We back up our Linux volumes under Z\os using FDR. How does your process
affect the 'dummy VTOC' Z\os requires to mount the Linux volume so we
can back it up?

I first cpformat, dasdfmt, fdisk, and mke2fs one volume, then use our
DASD vendor's cloning technology to create the others.

I need to format 60 339-9 for use with a new Linux guest. Up to now out
guest have used a LOT less and I would attach them to a current Linux
and format them with dasdfmt. 60 volumes will take a long time unless
there is a quicker way that I don't know about.

Thanks
