There was a bug in the kernels udelay implementation that caused a long wait in the md code. As far as I know this fix http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git;a=commit;h=78d81f2f844b739b377817cfd279fb6067e191a7 will be part of SLES11 SP1.
