I guess I don't understand your question.  Have you tried to run
earlier versions of Debian on a z10 and it didn't work?  The s390
port of Debian has been around since 3.1.  I myself have successfully
run 3.1 (Sarge), 4.0 (Etch), 5.0 (Lenny), and now 6.0 (Squeeze)
on a z/890, and I have no reason to believe that a z10 is any
different.  If it will run on a z890 it will surely run on a z10.
What exactly are you asking?
