Using multipath ... good! And creating PVs via the "coalesced" devices (under /dev/mapper) ... excellent!
Be sure to also exclude /dev/sd* from LVM scanning so that you don't accidentally hit the individual paths directly. There is exclusion capability in /etc/lvm/lvm.conf.
