Maybe have the box ticked to format the device first? You shouldn't.

You can partition it with "fdisk" but I have not found the magic spell
to avoid the "not on cylinder boundary" warnings.

But the approach would be to create mini disks and scatter than over
your EDEVs, otherwise you limit yourself again to one I/O at a time
for the entire set of partitions on that single virtual FBA.
