I think there's also the factor that most are well into their 30's before they mature enough to understand that getting the job done reliably is more important in the long run than flash and sizzle. Ron Wells' post makes a good point, but the fact is that as it settles into its hipervisor roll, VM just isn't as fun as it once was.
