It would be preferable if you could use RFC 1918 allocations for your legacy IP interconnections. Just using random IP addresses does break connectivity, especially when keeping it afterwards. Of course if you argue that no internet connectivity whatsoever exists for this machine, you need to make sure that this will be the case forever. As for the specific HSI issue I cannot help you, though. Sorry.
