I downloaded the DVD ISO to my Linux/Intel Fedora 17 - x86_64 system. I tried to IPL the ISO using Hercules/390. I did a loop-back mount of the ISO to a directory, then did the Hercules/390 command:
ipl /path/to/dev/generic.ins I got a lot of messages to the hercules console. The last ones that look good are: 82.265996! dracut: rd.dm=0: removing DM RAID activation 82.403817! dracut: rd.md=0: removing MD RAID activation Followed by the following messages, in a loop until I quit hercules <loop type="unending"> dracut Warning: Unable to process initqueue dracut Warning: /dev/root does not exist Dropping to debug shell. /lib/dracut-lib.sh: line 802: /dev/tty1: No such file or directory 112.141699! dracut Warning: Unable to process initqueue 112.146655! dracut Warning: /dev/root does not exist dracut Warning: Unable to process initqueue dracut Warning: /dev/root does not exist Dropping to debug shell. </loop> The only thing I can find via Google is on: https://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/s390x/2012-June/000195.html but the people there said it was probably a Hercules-390 error, not fc17. Nothing more after that.
