Srinivas,

Are you using FBA DASD? Linux development fixed a problem in the zipl
program in September 2012. This fix was included in RHEL6.4, but it is not
in RHEL6.3. Patch name: s390-tools-rhel6-zipl-flush-cache.patch - for s390
tools packages

Description: zipl: Flush disk buffers before installing IPL record

Symptom: Running zipl on an FBA DASD may cause a previously initialized
physical volume on the partition to be no longer recognized by LVM.

Problem: The Linux kernel maintains caches for block devices in granularity
of pages (4096 bytes). A disk and its partitions are represented by
separate block devices. As a result, the same area on disk may be
represented by entries in both the disk and partition cache. A sequence of
block device access requests can lead to inconsistent cache contents for
the first 4096 bytes on an FBA DASD.

Solution: Flush the cache for the disk and partition block devices before
installing the IPL record.

Problem-ID: 85124

Hi,

I am getting error while doing an IPL of virtual Linux server.

I have dumped the volumes of cloner server to the virtual server created.
Dumping is successful

Dumping volume 300 ,301 to virtual server volume 200, 201 using DDR(zVM
dump/restore program) command in zVM

After dumping, trying to IPL using the volume 200 and getting the following
