Hi Folks, I am trying to install RHEL 6.5 via FTP (I have done 5.5 & 6.2 last year successfully.) I am using an ftp server and thanks to Bruce Hayden, I now get a fully functional Linux. However, it used to be that before the installer would format the drive and install Linux, there would be a GUI that would give options for partitioning-sizes, mount points, etc. and packages to install and so forth. I don't see that this time around & I need to make changes here before the install continues. After I quit the installer or let it finish, the underlying text in the window appears and indicates there is some problem with the GUI as follows:
login as: install Welcome to the anaconda install environment 1.2 for zSeries /sbin/xauth: creating new authority file /root/.Xauthority detecting hardware... waiting for hardware to initialize... detecting hardware... waiting for hardware to initialize... Running anaconda 13.21.215, the Red Hat Enterprise Linux system installer - please wait. 21:35:32 Starting graphical installation. 21:35:35 Exception starting GUI installer: could not open display 21:35:35 GUI installer startup failed, falling back to text mode. I have Xming installed and X forwarding in Putty. What am I missing here? Thanks for your help, in advance.
