Mark- I'm sure we can help you understand the benefits of integrating OMEGAMON in the z/VM environment to provide a complete monitoring solution across the enterprise and provide complete end-to-end capabilities.
Full disclosure: IBM is my employer. zNorman -----Original Message----- From: Linux on 390 Port [mailto:LINUX-390@VM.MARIST.EDU] On Behalf Of Mark Post Sent: Wednesday, September 30, 2015 8:23 AM To: LINUX-390@VM.MARIST.EDU Subject: Re: zLinux CPU monitoring >>> On 9/30/2015 at 04:45 AM, Mikael Wargh <mikael.wa...@tieto.com> wrote: > Hello, > This is probably an old already well digested topic, but is there any > reliable way to monitor CPU usage on Linux level? As of today, and probably for a very long time to come, there is nothing native to Linux that will do this for you. For now, at least, you're going to need to pay for a performance monitor that will correlate all that information for you. Most z/VM shops that I am familiar with run Velocity Software's products. They've been the industry leader for decades now and do a good job. I am far less familiar with IBM's Omegamon offering, or even the inexpensive Performance Toolkit that IBM provides.
