After having problems with RHEL 8 installation in the past, I recently updated the zPDT microcode and wanted to try again. RHEL 8.4 had given me the dbus error I reported 12 months or so ago so I opted to give 8.5 a go.
This time I get as far as the “05:55:40 Please ssh inst...@rhel8.devlab.sinenomine.net<mailto:inst...@rhel8.devlab.sinenomine.net> (192.168.16.190) to begin the install.” message, yet when I try to ssh it responds with “connection refused”. I have waited several minutes but no joy. It responds to pings and has grabbed the install.img from the NFS-based repo so there are no network issues as such. Has anyone installed 8.5 under z/VM 7.1 (1901) on their zPDT successfully? Here is my generic.prm: ro ramdisk_size=40000 !condev rd.znet=qeth,0.0.0340,0.0.0341,0.0.0342,layer2=1,portno=0 ip=192.168.16.190::192.128.16.1:16:rhel8.devlab.sinenomine.net:enc340:none nameserver=192.168.16.80 rd.dasd=0.0.0150 inst.repo=nfs:192.168.16.45:/export/redhat/rhel8/s390x/iso I am installing in a 2GB virtual machines with 2 vCPUs.
