We have a non SSI zvm environment with 7
1 version and having Linux redhat running on zVM.

I plan to install a fresh zVM as 7.4 and wanted to know how to get Linux
moved on top of zVM 7.4 from 7.1 ?

ZVM CP volumes uses CKD disk and Linux uses FCP.

Does anyone any advise on the approach of moving the Linux guest from to a
newer zVM version?

Linux should not, in any way, care about the version of z/VM running.
Just make sure your Linux guests are up to date on maintenance and you
should be fine.
